Brev means «letter» in Norwegian.
There was a time when the internet felt different. Before algorithms, optimisation, paid placements and noise took over. When the web still had quiet, odd, lovely corners — places where you might stumble on a voice you simply had to hear more from. Brev is an attempt to build such a corner. A refuge where the pleasure of sending and receiving letters comes first.
Brev is a very simple newsletter service.
For people who want to write — not publish, not build a platform, not optimise, not chase likes. Just write, and send it to the inboxes of people who want to read.
First night in the wilderness
The kangaroos keep their distance from the campfire, as if they know I am still new here. The sky over Australia is so full of stars it feels almost unfair to close your eyes — as if the whole wilderness is lying still, listening for whether you have something on your heart worth a letter.
The word is yours
The name Brev is deliberate. Brev means letter in Norwegian. This is a place for letters — considered, personal, yours — not posts, content, or a feed.
Amid the colourful racket of today's internet, Brev is a white, undisturbed surface. We have stripped away every unnecessary button and menu so you can write in peace. And the room is yours.
The letters you send are not ours, and they should not carry our stamp. Your words, your content, your voice.
When you press send, nothing pings aggressively in an app. It settles quietly in the recipient's inbox.
When they open it, they are not met with our design, flashing widgets or “read this too” links. They are met with you — reading at their own pace, the way you read a thoughtful, handwritten postcard from an old friend.
There is not a single person in the world who wakes up in the morning hoping for more emails with buttons, ads and marketing. Right?
